Nancy Crippen Scholarship

Nancy Crippen was a zealous and lifelong advocate for teachers, students and public education, raising her seven children in the public schools in Worthington, Minnesota; serving as a board member and chair of the board of Independent School District 518; and later working as a bargaining agent and executive director for the Minnesota School Employees Association, an independent union representing school workers across Minnesota. Nancy was also the daughter of a nurse and, after being diagnosed with polio in the late 1940s, received great care and comfort from nurses throughout her life, including incredible oncology and hospice nurses who saw her through her final illness. Nancy’s children have established this scholarship at Saint Paul College to honor her legacy of lifelong learning and education and to honor the many nurses who supported, encouraged and cared for her.

This scholarship supports nursing students at Saint Paul College with demonstrated financial need and good academic standing.
